Eyesight better on insulin?

Hi everybody.

I’ve been wearing corrective lenses since I was 9 years old 47 years ago. (Diagnosed on my 8th birthday.)

Blood sugar managment back then was basically an HbA1c back then with random day to day pee testing using a chemistry set. Supplied by “Clinitest.”
The catalyst was teachers thought me lazy & thick. Reality was I couldn’t make out the blackboard…

Regular optician & ophthalmology eye chart tests..
Firstly; I hate back lit eyecharts they’ve been using the last couple of decades. I prefer natural light reflecting back of printed posters.
Keeping my BG levels between 5 & 7.5mmol optimises my vision.
Less likely to have a dodgy prescription lens than if I was sailing somewhere in the teens or heaven forbid approaching a hypo?
It’s a little like attempting fine art whilst grease is smeared on protective googles..

@Jaylee, I detest those background lit eye charts I can't even read the top row. The technicians murmur and have a look of utter sympathy. One day they are going to pat my head and say there, there. I have triple vision and the glow of the white lit background completely engulfs the letters. In bright light I too have the smudge across my central vision, as if someone has wiped a greasy finger across my glasses. None of mine is to do with blood sugars though, at least I hope not.

The average car number plate (or tag?) was natural day light or even at night illumination wit 2 5watt bulbs hitting it then the lit image comes through the eye lens & hits the retina.. The brain interprets the rest…
lol, even my computor screen isn’t that backlit..

Apart from advertisements I don’t know any road signs lit this way?
Maybe “smart motorway” signs but even then it’s yellow/amber lettering or font on black..

I've worn glasses for distance since I was 16. About three weeks after starting insulin after being diagnosed at 57, I found things were getting blurry with my glasses on and I could see better without them. This lasted for about 3 weeks and now my eyes are pretty much back to normal. Was v strange not wearing them for a while
