Since I started on the LCHF diet and metformin 3 weeks ago there has been a radical change in my eyesight. At first I was worried because my vision, even wearing my glasses (TV, driving) was gettting very blurred. Then I took the glasses off and discovered that I could see perfectly well without them. I haven't been able to read a subtitle on the TV for about 8 years without glasses but now I can read them clearly without my glasses. However, I've discovered that I need to wear my cheapo supermarket reading glasses, which I used to only need for doing small cross-stitch, to read anything. I can just about manage the computer screen without them because it's more than arm's length away but trying to read my Kindle is nigh on impossible, even with big print. The print size seems irrelevant, whether it's large or small I still need the reading glasses. Has anyone else experienced this and is it permanent or temporary?

Hi Chinta, welcome to the forum, the thing about diabetes...as we were unaware of it the damage was being done,as we become aware ,then we ( hopefully) take the necessary steps to correct , you will notice that your vision will change( for the better) as your lchf and blood sugars normalise , so have in mind that it does take about 2 to 6 months for your bs's to get back into the range( 4.6 mmols to 6.8 mmols ) well done for your lchf regime and if you need any help please keep posting, clive

Yes, I had this kind of eyesight change, too. At its worst my eyesight was so bleary that the world didn't have much colour and was a bit fuzzy round the edges. I'm back now wearing the glasses I wore just to watch TV that I wore in my 20s. I, too, am wearing pound shop reading glasses for reading my kindle but only in the evening and for very close up fiddly work.

My optician is a lovely person and has agreed with me that it's pointless spending a lot of money on new glasses if my prescription is constantly changing. Better to wait until it stabilizes.
