Fasting blood glucose raised, hoping for reassurance

Am feeling really annoyed with myself. Had managed to get my levels down and although my fasting BS was typically 6.7-7.0 by the time I have had porridge and walked dogs is always down to between 5.5and 5.7 2 hours later.

We have just had a lovely week on holiday in the Lakes but did fall off the low carb wagon whilst I was there. Since I have come back my fasting BS has been 7.9 on 4 out of 5 days (6.7 yesterday). During the day I am back to the usual post meal readings. It is literally months since it was this high.

I am back to my usual diet now home. Is this a blip in reaction to my holiday diet and will take a while to settle down again or should I be worried? Was hoping to kick my 1 metformin but am now scared an increase is on the cards

I had my first bad meal since diagnosis last week and had fasting blood sugar in the 8s for the next couple of days. I was really annoyed with myself and thought I had ruined things but it did settle down and I was seeing 6s again. I'm on one metformin too, I'm supposed to be increasing it weekly but things havent been so bad so I'm sticking to one at the moment. I was going to increase my dose but luckily it came back down. Hope your readings settle soon.

Thanks, that’s so good to hear. Have been beating myself up about it. Hopefully we can both stick to 1 metformin or even better none.
