I do not have diabetes
Hi, I don't have diabetes but I went to the docs for a blood test on everything. Well, they called me back to do a fasting blood glucose test because the last blood test (non fasting) came back with high sugar in my blood. Well, I fasted for 13 hours, had a blood test and my results came back that I was not diabetic. The high sugar level must have been from my breakfast. I was relieved at this however I do have lots of symptoms of diabetes and I was wondering, is it possible that I still could be diabetic. I'm just worried because I have a lot of symptoms but surely the GPs know what they're doing?

Hi and Welcome,
Do you know if the blood test was a HbA1c test or purely a fasting Glucose test.
If a HbA1c was done this shows a average Sugar content in your blood over the last 12 weeks.
I would not worry about being Diabetic, if your Doctor does not think this is the case.
If you have the actual test results I could possibly help further
All the Best

Hello and welcome.

Yes, tell us what your fasting tests were, and if you know, what sort of test it was.

As well as the test results, what are the symptoms that lead you towards your self diagnosis?

They were just glucose tests, I think. the first one (i didn't fast for this one) the result was 8 point something, but the fasting one the result was 4 point something (i think). Also I'm just lethargic all the time, have lost a bit of weight (although its only a bit so probably nothing to worry about unless it continues) I get blurry vision, generally feel really weird and I drink so much because I pee so often. But maybe that's just normal for me and i do suffer badly from anxiety so my stress levels are probably what are causing my other problems.

Hi @LuluO A fasting test of 4 point something is perfectly normal and many diabetics would give their right arm for that. Could you be peeing so much because you are drinking so much? There is a direct correlation. Try and reduce your fluid intake for a couple of days and see what happens. As for your blurry vision have you had a vision test recently?

If your fasting result was 4 point something then that is perfectly normal. Anything up to 5.5 is normal.

Your other symptoms could relate to anything. It isn't just diabetes that causes constant visits to the loo, tiredness and lethargy. I would stop stressing about it.

Ahh cool, good results then, and I can't stop drinking because it doesn't affect how much I pee, it just seriously dehydrates me. I think maybe I just have a small bladder or something.
