Type 2 Fasting blood sugar

I’ve previously posted before for my hubby. DN has added a new tablet Alogluptin to Metformin and waking blood sugars had started to come down from 10 to 8.4 and bedtime last night was 8.9 not ideal but a lot better but this morning on waking it was 12.9 - why/what would cause that?

Your liver pumps out glucose and hormones in the early hours to get you ready for the day ahead which can raise BSG at wake time.
