Fasting glucose 5 - 6 mmol

Hi my fasting glucose is between 5 - 6 mmol I have been diagnosed D2 2 years ago off my medication since then just controlling with the Banting lifestyle any comments ?

The Banting (Low Carb) diet is what a lot of us follow so we know it works..

The tests show your fasting glucose is good, but you could still have impaired glucose tolerance. Two ways to test for IGT are by using a glucometer after meals, or the HbA1C.

I think that as a group, people who had hyperglycaemia but have reverted it, and are keeping watch, have lower risks than people who have low glucose for now, but who have a genetic burden and are not following the Banting lifestyle.

It would be good to get tested for complications occasionally (eg, retina exam every 2 or 3 years). Type 2 has a strong genetic component, ie, people inherit a predisposition to it. Some authors have mentioned evidence that among people who were prediab. or diab and reversed their glucose levels, there is still a higher incidence of complications for a few years.
