I recently had an HBa1c blood test, because I asked for it. I've since had a routine letter offering me a fasting blood test as it's a year since I was diagnosed with prediabetes. Is there any point in having it? I'm imagining not - I guess it'll tell me less than I already know? Just checking though.

The HBa1c test is much better as it shows your average BG levels over last 3 months or so. The fasting test is a one-off measurement. Can be useful to check accuracy of your own meter against the lab test if you test yourself within few mins of having GP's fasting test.
Will your fasting test also include cholesterol etc if so then I would recommend attending.
