The results, published in the New England Journal Of Medicine, found that while the weight loss on the low-fat, calorie-restricted diet was 2.9kg, those in the unrestricted low-carb group lost 4.7kg.

More striking was the change in their level of fats in the blood (triglycerides). In the low-fat group it had dropped 2.8, but among those on low carbs it was down 21.8.

Cutting carbs is more effective because they raise the level of glucose in the blood; the body produces extra insulin to sweep it away into storage in the muscles for energy or as fat.

Me too!!! We stopped putting out cookies and milk for Santa when we found out he was a lo-carber. Seems he much prefers a glass of Claret and some Brie... :wink:
