Hi Aquatica and welcome to the forum. You don't say what strength your 6 Starlix tablets are - they come in 60, 120 and 180mg strength. As their purpose is to reduce the spike you would get immediately after eating, and your post-prandial test shows quite a high level, you might be switched to a higher dose if you are not already on the highest.
Also doctors tend to juggle with the metformin dosage before considering insulin. Your current 850mg is less than half the maximum 2000mg per day dose. If all else fails then you could be switched to insulin, but if that happens, as several people have said, injecting is not that difficult. For years I had a phobia about needles but I am now on Byetta, which has to be injected, and it doesn't bother me at all. As Lee said, the finger prick hurts more!
