It sounds like they fobbed you off! Why not either insist you see your consultant and tell them these results or if you are still not happy Email the PALS department of your Hospital. That does the trick. Very good luck!So for the past few months my sugars have been high and have just checked my levels before tea and the 14.4!!a couple of night sugars was very similar and missed my meal due to it,need to get in touch with my diabetes team which I m not looking forward as have kinda fobbed them off due to feeling like no1 is listening to me!!!I'm type 1 but my gad results come back negative again last year and it said no further treatment needed!!!I m on 6 units in the morning and 8 before bed,my last hba1c was 7.1 I feel like I m not getting the right treatment and am so frustrated, seen my consultant like twice in 3 years!!
Are you on mixed insulin and fixed doses? Most people are on a basal/bolus regime, so we can adjust the amount of insulin depending on food, activity and bg.
Might be time for a bolus insulin added then. I wish you luck with your diabetes team!just basal
Did you make any headway today @wiserkurtious?
I rang my diabetes team 8 days ago btw and had to get back in touch with them
so an update, yesterday my diabetes team rang me and said they've been in touch with my consult and hes given the go ahead,so I ve been subscribed some apidra but the only problem for me is that they've sent it through to my doctors and there closed till tuesday with easter,so ya abit of a bummer but i m happy
That's (mainly!) fantastic news.
I'm sure it'll be a lot of work, but hopefully the beginning of a bit more control for you.
I believe there are about 4 main options on prescribing insulin (regimes). From one injection a day which is the simplest to manage to a basal / bolus regime with carb counting being the most difficult. The basal / bolus + carb count can give the best control however.
I think consultant’s initially weigh up a patient’s ability to manage each of the options and prescribe based on a guesstimate of this.
