Tomorrow marks my 2 months of going LCHF and on a positive note I've shed 9lbs in total and shaken off all the lethargy, sleepiness and brain fog. My BG have dropped considerably and average 6-7 during the day, but I'm still struggling to bring the fasting levels down, but they are definitely reducing, slowly. I've gone down with a bug for the first time in about 15 years which has knocked me sideways and I think perhaps my immune system has weakened. Before getting the bug, I'd noticed since low carbing that I'd started to feel the cold - not something I've suffered with in the past.

Is this usual with low-carbing?

Definitely not, in my experience.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that feeling cold is, for me, a sign of too high/low BG .

A couple of weeks ago, we were standing in the middle of a field, in the rain. Mr B was huddled in his leather coat, cold and miserable. I was in a light raincoat and no jumper and was warm from fingers to toes - that was when I knew I had achieved ketosis.

Can I ask, have you been reducing the fat in your diet? Or have you been saving up your carbs and having them all at once, as a treat? Both of those would mess me up, and it might take a few days to even out after that.

Actually, now i think about it, I associate being cold with a few things - low calorie diets (shudder), and hypoglycaemia (bigger shudder). Also having a virus (possibly a temperature). And too little physical activity in a cold environment.

Could you have been skating a little close to low BG? I think that hypos also lower my immune system - but I have no scientific evidence for this.

I have found that since I have lost over 3 stones I feel the cold terribly. Even in this warm/er weather I am having to put the heating on for half an hour here and there. I don't think lowering carbs alone makes us feel cold, except that it can cause us to lose some of our insulation! The last 2 nights I have had to wear bedsocks as my cold feet were keeping me awake, it's getting silly.
