Feeling guilty - Holiday blow out for diet

Hi everyone, I have had a week away with my family and have eaten out everyday, have tried to stick to as less amount of carbs as possible, but have found it so hard with everyone eating all my fav foods around me, having puddings (that I haven't eaten in 5 months) to which yesterday I finally caved and ate a korma with rice and chips naan and then followed with cheese cake
Today I am feeling terrible with myself! I knew I shouldn't of eaten any of that and was trying all week to be fairly good! The thing that is worrying me the most is I have my HBa1c on the 15th September - will my blow out have a real impact on my figures? The highest my bloods have gone at fasting over this week is 7.2 (as with all that yesterday) I was 6.1?! Feeling down and blue - and hating this disease at the moment

Hiya, don't worry. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow and do the best you can! I did similar last night with a themed six-course taster meal of North African food and every dish was sweet. I had some of everything except pud, which Mrs DeeJay brought home in a box for herself. With T2 we usually get the chance to start again, so get back on the wagon and feel good again. Your blood test will be based on the last three months so your holiday eating will hopefully be just a blip.

You Hb1ac is an average over the last 3 months. One night blow out won't have a huge impact.
Sure you have to manage diabetes but you also have to do it whilst living a live that it worth living. It's about balance and controlling your diabetes rather than letting it control you.
Perhaps you can relax the rules that you live by a little. Allow yours self one blow out every few months (holiday and Christmas, for example).
I compare it with cleaning my teeth which I do without fail everyday when I get up and when I go to bed. When I say "without fail", I maay be stretching the truth a tiny, little bit. Very very rarely, I get home from a lon gexhausting day and all I want to do is sleep. I have no energy to clean my teeth. Next morning, my mouth feels nasty until I clean my teeth. One night without toothpaste does not mean my teeth will fall out. Every night without toothpaste does.
One high carb meal does not mean you will suffer all the complications diabetes brings. High carbs every meal does.

As others have said your Hba1c is a three month average count so it will not be greatly affected by one high-carb meal.
Just get back on the saddle and stop worrying yourself unnecessarily

When I go on holiday I usually go half board which at breakfast is fine due to having full English but always have a three course meal at night. It's only a week and you will soon get back to your low carb ways - I usually look forward to having a nice big salad once I'm home. I'm going on a cruise around the Canaries in 6 weeks and, whilst I will eat as low carb as I can, I won't worry too much if I stray a bit - my meter will be staying at home!! However my hba1c test is due so need to get that in before my holiday!!

my bg usually averages around 6, but last year i had about 10 days where my levels were pretty high, fasting bg about 8 and post-meal bg going up to about 10.5 (still don't know why that happened, but it did). my ha1bc a couple of months later was 36, so no obvious long term effects. we're not machines, so enjoy the occasional blowout - as others are saying, as long as it's only occasional it's fine, don't beat yourself up about it, life's too short.
