Following on from the first post..
I am a full week in of taking 500g Metformin.
I tentatively started low carb high fat too. Tentative because I have a fair bit of weight to lose and my brain was struggling to accept that fat is good.
Anyway, I haven't weighed myself because my weight loss is about feeling better and getting things back under control
I'm testing every day and I'm pleased to report my numbers are falling nicely. Whether I attribute this to lchf (already?) or the Metformin, or a combination of both , I don't know but after only a week, things are certainly going in the right direction. Only last week my morning bloods were anywhere from 10 to 14.
Pre food around the 10 Mark, rising to up to 14, falling only 2 or 3 maximum after 2 hours. My bloods were 9.1 at 22.15 last night, 9.1 at 645 today. 8.9 1 3/4 hours after lunch, down to 7.4 4 hours later, 7.8 before tea rising to 7.9 1 3/4 hours later.
I know this is a lot of testing in one day but I've already established this last 7 days that I can tolerate satsumas and raspberries far better than my favourite banana, that even a small amount of potatoes is a no no at the moment and coffee with cream is bloody lovely
I know I have a long way to go but I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with these results after just 7 days. I'm sure at some point I will grieve the loss of some of my favourite foods, but I'm chuffed that I've made so many changes so easily.
I have no clue what the ratios of my food are but I'm finding 100g carbs or less is easily achievable and seems to be working. I already feel more alert and I have less brain 'fog' .
So yes, still positive and determined to go into 'remission'
