Maybe this should go on off topic, but I am not to sure.
There's a thing that bugs me. Since the last couple of months, I felt that doing the everyday chores, like cooking and eating, cleaning the house, buying groceries, do a shower and so on requires more and more time.
This thing seems to be backed to the fact I arrive at 10:30pm and still to have to load the dishwasher, when the year before I remember that at 9pm i was going to a walk outside or even to a concert/pub/whatever.
I also fells tired but I can't have a good sleep, I never sleep more tha six hours and half...
Anyone ever hat this strange sensation?
Any hint to solve this problem?
Ofcourse maybe it's not a diabetes-related thing but maybe is the fact that living in a flat alone is slowly making me an hermit :0
but if you eat a lot of meat and dark green vegetables it would probably not be that..
Hmm... It's now spinach season, I think I'll start to grab some.
I wonder if it could be Seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Though I think SAD makes you sleep more not less especially during the day but every thing else you describe seems to fit.
Maybe try and get a sun ray lamp and see if it helps.
It would also I think it a good idea to talk to your doctor about it.
If you are on something like Adcal+D3 you should not eat spinach within two hours of taking the medication.
Hello Chis,Hi Mike,
Sorry if you have mentioned it and I missed it but have you had your a thyroid function checked? I have an under active Thyroid and feel like you very very often, have just had my Levothyroxine increased.
Good idea, the next month or in january I'll have to make the annual test with choleserol, transamynase and so on - I'll talk about this with my GP and see what exams should be done.I can sympathise, I find it can come on very suddenly and it a feeling of exhaustion, perhaps your GP can give your bloods an MOT?
I normally go walking to work and to make errands, and I like very much the return journey from work, a bit less the walk to go to the office. By the way in the office on these days the heating system is out of control and the temperature in the office is 29 C and nobody can figure why, I suppose that the super complex computer-controlled system of temperature control is designed badly and sensor are malfunctioning and are too few. I suppose that high temperature in winter is not a good thing. As for living alone, I don't but do suffer from Depression and Anxiety, some days don't want to do anything, however, even if I get out for a bit of fresh air and a little walk, even if just up road and back I find it does wake me up a lot and also peps me up generally, of course, I don't know whether you are able.
The temperature when I go to sleep is around 20 C and in the morning before the heating start is on the 18 C range, feels ok.It's easier said than done when you feel low and tired though. As for the sleeping, sounds daft but is your bedroom too hot or too cold?
My bedroom has wooden panels that shuts the window, but unfortunately I live in a noisy place, with tram lines and an underground train track where freight train are travelling in the night, I could feel the vibrations. Even now and then some idiot driving too fast crashes on the pillars in the middle of the road, and the siren of the ambulnce wakes me up.I have slept better since I had a cooler room and got blackout linings for the curtains, I also cut out evening drinks after 9pm so I hopefully don't have to get up at all, or only once during the night for the loo.
I'm writig here because I find people here (and aldo on DUK) very supportive because being all diabetics we all know the beast. Having the anonimity of a screen and a keyboard is really useful, and I found in the '90 that sometimes keyboard a screen could help to express better the problems one has.I hope you manage to find some help. If you are very low, talking therapies can help too, I referred myself rather than go through GP and I am a very private person, but was able to have telephone sessions based on CBT for my low mood and it really helped.
Take care, people on here are very supportive and it's often easier to say how you feel than to family or friends.
Hi Mike,Hello Chis,
I was tested last year for throid with a blood test and was ok.
Good idea, the next month or in january I'll have to make the annual test with choleserol, transamynase and so on - I'll talk about this with my GP and see what exams should be done.

The problem is that I wake up early even when I'm at the house in the country, where the only noises are barking dogs.
I've think also the problem is sleep deprivation that self sustains.

With friends, I have a small problem, with the new tecnology I find a bit difficult making an old fashioned telepone call to chat. When I call my elderly relatives they're quite happy to hear me and we make some small talk. With friend of my age is really difficult, even if I'm sure they remember payphones and rotary phones.
Mike
Parkinsons law perhaps?
as in "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion"
Haven't tried, but I don't like have thing inside my ears: I have tried earplug for listening to the radio but I soon reverted to sovraural headphones even if they're bulkier and gives you a DJ look ...Hi Mike,
Living and trying to sleep with noise is difficult, could you try earplugs at all? Though that wouldn't help with vibration.
Semmes that boss is threatening the landlord to stop paying for the heating if he dosen't fix the system, let's see...Your office sounds like my idea of hell at that heat!
I'm ok with the tech I've had my first computer at 13 and got my amateur radio license and my first modem at 16 and work in IT and I succesfully built by PC from parts, but I find Whatsapp, Facebook an Co a waste of time and space. I still prefer a telephone call or a round table on 144 MHz.I know what you mean about the modern age. I am 58 and worked on pc's so am okay with the tech, but often yearn to have a good old fashioned natter on the phone. Most of my conversations with people (incl my daughter) seem to revolve around Facebook, Messenger, emails and texts! There's nothing better than a face to face or at least a voice to voice chat.
Thank you!I hope things look up for you and in the meantime, take care.
INT QRVgot my amateur radio license and my first modem at 16 I still prefer a telephone call or a round table on 144 MHz.
Thank you!
Normally I get a cup with the breakfast, if I don't make tea, one cup at 10 am, one cup after the dinner. After the supper sometimes I take some decaf.Hi,
I hesitate to suggest this, because Italy is the home of good coffee - but how much of it do you drink?
This last year I was finding my sleep was rough, too light, unrefreshing.
In desperation I cut out the coffee and (after an unpleasant period of adjustment) discovered that I felt much better, slept better and worked better. A lot better. I am unable to express how much better.
I sleep better when it's weekend time and I'm not in the city flat.Coffee was one of my great pleasures and I miss it terribly, but I value sleep higher.
Just talked with my GP. Tried to explain the problem but she gave me only the standars exams: cholesterol, urine, fasting BG...If I were you I would ask for another thyroid test and also check your iron levels, folic acid and VIT B 12. Hope you feel better soon
