Hi all

Not sure what to do i have a small cut on my right index finger which i noticed a week ago, but yesterday it became quite painful and red and swollen i put savlon on it with a plaster and it was still painful today i managed to sqeeze a small amount of puss from it and relieved the pain abit but its still red a sore. Should i visit the local walk in medical centre tomorrow or get a GP appointment on monday cos of being type 1 diabetic i don't want to cause more damage

Hi Tracey sorry to hear of your poorly finger, it does sound infected. I had an infected little fingers about 6 weeks ago now, very painful red and swollen. After 8 days ( after injuring finger) I went to see a GP and was given antibiotics which helped after a couple of days and it healed up nicely.
Don't squeeze it anymore Tracey, as it could get a lot worse.. Take good care and good luck.

My infected pinkie.

High levels of blood glucose impair healing. If it infected get it looked at by the nurse - better safe than sorry.
