first 3 month review and conversation maps (formerly desmond)

Well had a full on day today, spent the morning with a lovely bunch of newly diagnosed type 2's as we went through the conversation maps with 2 diabetic nurses. Found it very informative and as it took 4 hours there was plenty of time for it all to sink in - good to listen to other peoples stories and questions too. At the end of the session they arranged for me to pick up a blood test monitor at my appointment for my 3 month review at the end of the day - complete with repeat prescription for testing strips!! Had some really great news at my review, hba1c down from 12.3 to 6.8 and cholesterol down from 9.1 to 4.4 - feeling good about that. I have been eating healthily and been careful with the type of carbs I've been eating and increased my daily exercise. I'm sure the medication has helped as well - currently 3 x 500mg metformin, 1 x 100mg sitagliptin an 1 x 20mg simvastating - just hope I can maintain these figures as doc suspects slow onset type 1 - guess time wlll tell, but for now WOOHOO!!
