First HbA1c test tomorrow since diagnosis

been type 2 and the fact i get no sodding help from the NHS at all
hi

got my Hba1c test tomorrow. first one ever was last October last year and this is my first one since. so my second ever. my first one was 6.8 so really hoping its a lot less now. cant say ive been an angel either really but a hell of a lot better than i was before my first test. basically lived on sugar and biscuits and choccy etc. no ill hardly touch the stuff. maybe a the weekends. im so scared tho that ive gone up. other than the test i dont know how i would know. so very nervous

Have you been self-testing using a monitor?
 
i did at first but the result always seem to be the same whatever i did really so stopped bothering
 
See how it goes tomorrow,but if results are higher than you would want, then come back to the forum for advice on diet and self-monitoring. There are some helpful people on here who will explain how to test at the right time, etc.
 
i have failed misserably at loosing weight. i lost about a stone and thats it in 12 months. i have tried everything. and now i give up and it is running my life
 
Good luck. Why are you on annual tests? That is unusual for a newly diagnosed. The norm is one for diagnosis, another in 3 months, then 6 monthly if stable, then annually when consistently stable.
 
because my doctor is knob and he told me i wast diabetic and i am as i was 6.8 hba1c. and he just ignores what i say to him

Does "I've tried everything" include asking for help and encouragement on this site? Don't give up.
 
Well I would say it's up to you to test regularly, then your annual check won't be a huge surprise or worry to you.
 
Well I suggest you change your doctor. You should be on the diabetic care pathway, with regular HbA1c tests, cholesterol, foot care, retinal eye screening, and so on.
 
yeah i have tired the lot. i guess gastric by pass is for me. im not lazy and evercise like a mad man and eat well but wont loose anyting

Well it looks like you are going to have to help yourself, and maybe we can help you to do this.

What is your typical diet? What did you eat yesterday for example?

You might find it helpful to read some of the success stories on this forum - so many people have struggled with their weight and glucose levels, but they have overcome their obstacles. Their reports keep me motivated.

I've always been told porridge is a gold choice food for type 2 what do you have to replace potatoes
 
You could start by changing the proportions on your plate so that you fill half with veg or salad, quarter protein (chicken, etc) and quarter or less of carbs. I got going with that and gradually got used to less carbs. Don't forget you can increase your fat intake. For breakfast I always have an egg, with bacon, mushrooms, sausage or tomato and usually no bread or toast because this fills me up.
