Very different from the ones used in processed foods I would imagine as they are likely to use the cheapest available. It gets a bad press because of the American versions.
 
Just came across this thread as looking for a 'pancake' batter recipe for next week. Aldi's Rapeseed Oil is British and very nice indeed, a lovely deep orange colour. I use it in recipes that call for melted butter.
