Flu/Covid jab causing blood sugar spike

Hi all
T2D diagnosed in May with a Hb1ac of 80. Got it down to 36 by August. Have another check in a few weeks.
I check my blood glucose most mornings and it's about 6.0 on average - depending it seems on how many peanuts I ate the night before.

Got the double Covid and Flu boosters yesterday afternoon. My Blood Glucose this morning was 7.8!

I had a low carb dinner and didnt eat anything after that, so I can't think what caused it. I've had a little look online and there seems to be suggestions that the booster shots can cause a spike in your Blood Glucose, especially if like me - you get a little feverish and achy for about a day afterwards.

Anyone else experienced this? Real or nonsense?
 
This a common reaction - your liver is releasing glucose to "fight" the vaccines,
There are something like 42 listed which can affect blood sugars including food, alcohol, exercise, illness, stress, medication, ..
 
I got the same. Had separate flu and Covid jabs, 2 weeks apart. Each caused my morning readings to be 1-2 mmol higher for a couple of days after, which from what I've read is likely an immune response reaction by the liver.

I had them both on the same side about 9 days ago. Foolishly on a Libre arm too.. (sensor worn inside the arm.)

Apart from a little “arm punch” for the afternoon. & testing more than usual to check it hadn’t messed the Libre.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

The previous jabs did throw me a little with symptoms & sugars.
 
Had both jabs yesterday- one in each arm, very tired early evening, almost like I was when undiagnosed and could sleep standing up, head ache and sore arms and across shoulders and neck.

Much better today only the Covid arm pretty sore but BG definitely up. Just had evening meal of garlic prawns, pickled mushrooms hard goats cheese and blue cheese, feta cheese and olives micro herb salad, (can you tell I’ve been to a farmers market today lol)

BG after 2 hrs 8.3 eeek! - didn’t do before but was feeling sluggish so wanted to test - hopefully it will drop back down to my usual mid 6 after meals soon fingers crossed
 
I split mine by a few days & had them in different arms, as each covid jab has given me a heavy arm. Nothing untoward with the flu jab, but like you, @lovinglife, I nearly fell out of my chair at 8.4 after a dinner that usually gives me a low reading. Thankfully it's coming back down.
 
I wanted to but it was my surgery’s last day of doing them so it was nip round the corner for 10 minutes or have to book a carer for my son and travel 30 minutes each way on the bus to the next vaccine centre. At least they are done out of the way
 
What a pain, but you're right, they're done now.
 
My readings were about 15% higher for a few days after the COVID jab this time (Pfizer).
 
I had my flu and covid jag on the same day 2 weeks ago. Can't seem to get my numbers back into range. IT doesn't matter how much I try.
