My Manager insists i wear safety shoes at work , for health and safety reasons ...I already suffer from neuropathy mostly at night which I control with co-codamol before bed ...However I have tried several makes of safety shoes and usually after a few hours it feels as if i am walking barefoot on a corrugated steel sheet , I have tried insoles but still have to find something to make them wearable , the only shoes i find comfortable for long periods are good old trainers as as the soles are very soft ...any ideas would be grateful ..i did ask my doctor , but she was no help ....

many Thanks

Volley make a steel capped version of their sandshoes which are popular on building sites in Australia. Might be enough to keep the boss happy but whether or not they're as comfy as proper trainers I couldn't tell you. Do you see a podiatrist at all?

If you can't find anything off the rack, you might want to see about orthopedics.

I work in Engineering, mainly driving a desk but when I'm in the factory I find that safety shoes are a pain in the er, feet!

After a good look around last year, I got some shoes from a company called Arco. These shoes are extremely lightweight composites (non metallic) and probably the best safety shoes I've had so far. Have you tried using gel inserts or anything similar?

in the last 2 years i have tried several types , it seems that the soles are extremely hard , they have to be to comply with site safety . This causes me extreme discomfort after a few hours to the extent that i end up hobbling almost as if i have ball bearings in my shoes , insoles are of little help they just crease up after a few days and cause more problems also I tend to get attacks of neuropathy during the day with them which is extremely uncomfortable ...I just cannot afford to spend money and then to be unable to wear them ...at this moment I have 2 pairs which i cannot wear that totals nearly £80 wasted ...
