So I forgot my levemir last night. I've long suspected it's too high a dose and today has proven that. I've had immaculate BG all day and no severe drop over night.
I've taken my usual 3u today, but I will discuss reducing it further when I see my nurse on Friday.
Did anyone else not require basal (or work with less that 3u per day) when in their honeymoon period?
Was very tricky at the start with basal. Hospital told me to start on 18 units based on my bmi. Suppose had to start somewhere. Not long after had a very unstable period, going down and down every night till I was on 0 units base. This was for nearly 2 months and slowly morning readings crept up. Was on 2 units for a bit. Doesn't sound like worth bothering injecting only 2 units but did make a big difference through the day and night. Settled on 7 units and pretty much stayed there after 12 months of diagnosis. now pumping 8.05 units a day of basal so hasnt changed alot since but making all the difference pumping different amount at different times of day, as you know lol.
funny, I forgot my 8 units basal last night, blood sugars behaving all day for me as well.
Oddly, whatever my pre-bed BG reading, I always tend to wake up between 4.5 and 5.5.
You will have to drop me a note on DAFNE - are you still at Dyce, if so you can give me a download over a cup of coffee when I'm up there in a couple of weeks for some work
