I'd suggest you call Abbott customer support, and hope that they are feeling helpful that day. Unfortunately, their site does say:
**Please note the insulin calculator feature of FreeStyle InsuLinx is enabled at the discretion of your diabetes specialist nurse. You can use all other features of the meter immediately.
Personally, I wouldn't bother - any gadget cannot be both simple to use and comprehensive; from their site, the InsuLinx looks to be on the simple side, so you'll have to fudge things anyway (exercise, activity levels, odd foods, etc)
