My take is that during development Abbot only tested upper arm usage to ensure robust findings, rather than potential, unknown variable.
Are you sure the night time hypo alarms are not compression lows?it's irritating to be woken by the alarm for hypo warning only to find the blood glucose reading is fine

Abbott are very specific about back of the upper arm locations and provide drawings to illustrate. By side of arm I simply mean the upper arm between shoulder and elbow which face forward when the arm is in its natural position.
