Freestyle Libre II Problems.

I had one come off before I'd even activated it! They still replaced it swiftly and free of charge.

I use the hardshell sensor covers, which come with Kovoq adhesive patches. The hardshell works really well and can be used with other brands of patches. On the occasions when the sensor has come off, I reported it to Freestyle and they have always sent a new sensor out.

Yes, just give Abbott a ring. They're very good at replacing them.

Some people do find Libre stick like limpets whereas other people find they need assistance to stay in place.
I find I need no assistance provided my skin is clean and if I choose a suitable place.
When cleaning my skin, I need to remove any greasy residue. This means cleaning without any moisturiser which includes avoiding moisturising soap and shower gel. Some people also use alcohol wipes. However, I do not like the environmental impact of single use items such as wipes. Therefore, if my skin is still greasy after washing, I will wipe it with surgical spirit.
Then I need to choose a suitable spot for the sensor. This needs to have at least 5mm of fat and flat. Both of these criteria have caught me out in the past. The 5mm of fat is a problem in some areas because I have quite muscular arms. This also makes it harder to find a flat area because sensors do not bend. Placing the sensor on a "corner" was the biggest cause of sensors peeling off. Any are a of the arm which can flex or curves due to muscle or joints will mean that the skin moves when the sensor does not.
With the correct skin preparation and sensor placement, I do not need anything to keep my sensor where it is for 14 days.

I'd say so. Then they bear the cost of replacing faulty ones, rather than the NHS

DEFINITELY.
It was explained to me when I was first prescribed Libre that I must report faulty sensors to Abbott. It is very easy to.do - there is a form on their website - and they usually replace them.
There is no reason why anyone (including the cash strapped NHS) should pay for faulty goods.

I had 2 sensors fall off soon after fitting them when I first started using the Libre 2. They were reported to Abbott who replaced them. My usual routine is to clean the area where the sensor is to be placed with an alcohol wipe. I wait for the skin to dry before placing the sensor. I then use a waterproof a adhesive patch to help keep it in place. Some of the sensors have required some effort to remove them when they are finished.

These are the patches I use to cover my sensor.
