I decided to give the Freestyle libre a go I know it is expensive, but when I used it I could not go back to finger pricking, I can test as many times as I want and take action if needed,I buy my sensors from the Freestyle website ,I get the VAT deducted ,I buy 2 a month It cost without the VAT £96.58 this costs me £1158.96 a year I don't smoke or go out dining,I know it is an expense, but it really is a small price to pay for your health,It has brought my Hba1c to normal figures. I could not now live without it

I love the freestyle libre and am using it whilst I am on steroids. So long as you remember its little foibles such as, it is running around 20 minutes or so behind. It is wildly inaccurate below 4 and you need to fingerprick to ensure you are not having a hypo. If you lie on it whilst sleeping it can give inaccurate results.

Not entirely sure I can justify the cost when I come off the steroids, we shall have to see. I pay the same price as you but get mine from Asda. I had to fill in a form and I don't pay VAT either.

I always sleep on my left side have done foe years so I always put the sensor on my right arm
