I was just wondering if anyone new why it's only recommended for over 18s? I've looked on the website and it doesn't seem to give any explanation as to why .

It's because it hasn't been tested properly yet on under 18's, most medicines and things like this are approved for adults first and then released for children. Quite a lot of things never even reach being technically 'allowed' for children, or for pregnant or breastfeeding women because it is unethical to 'test' on them, but I think Abbott are working to get this approved for children as soon as they can.
