Funding For Insulin Pump Therapy

Hi

My father is a type 1 diabetic and has been for almost 42 years. He has been sent an information pack about an Accu-Chek Insulin pump. Any advice would be most welcome as to how, why, where and cost and his GP doesn't seem to be very interested in telling him anything!!!

Most health board areas have very limited funding for pumps. Your dad could speak to the consultant diabetologist if he is interested.

A site, "Insulin pumpers UK" has a lot more information about pumps.

It a very difficult situation. Even if the NICE guidelines apply if the money isn't there its not going to happen with all the will in the world. Especially now that the global economy has fallen down.
