I have come across sites stating that Thrush and Swimmers Ear are common amongst T2Ds with a high BG count. Having suffered both I am interested in learning if this is true and whether or not the infections subside if BG count is lowered.

Prior to diagnosis, I noticed an increase in fungal skin infections, which had never really been a problem before. Looking back, I also had an infected tooth which needed root canal work. These were little signs that things were going wrong. If you can maintain low BG numbers, there will not be the high glucose which feeds bacterial infections.
It can be, as you say there's a lot of information on the net that backs that up. I've not had a problem since over 10 years ago and by and large my control is a lot better these days. I have had a fungal infection in the stomach after taking antibiotics. The bad bacteria and fungus got there first after all bacteria being wiped out by the antibiotics.
