Ive never known the eye drops to effect me for more than a few hours, and ive had plenty!!

If they think you are short sighted why are they not giving you glasses now?

High bloods can affect your vision, especially if you have had poor control over a long period of time.

I would ask for a referral to the eye clinic at the hospital or speak to your DSN if you are worried.

High bg from my own experience can effect eyesight, the eye drops I get at the eye clinic usually wear-off after a few hours.

My average blood glucose is around 24 and I'm having the same eyesight problems that you're experiencing.
My night vision is now terrible and we've had some lovely sunny days here but I'm finding my tolerance of sunlight is really bad-did you experience that too Joelcam?

High blood glucose can cause temporary problems with vision... pro-longed high blood glucose causes permanent damage to your eyes.. The good news is that good control will stop and in some cases reverse damage..

I'm type1 since I was 2yrs,& recently I've been experiencing very bad blurred vision in both eyes & they also hurt sometimes.In my left eye I have a hole in my retina so my vision isn't very good in that eye & now my right eye is playing up & I'm really scared that one day I'm going to wake up blind.Ive also been having sensitivity to light,everything is too bright for me & I'm finding it very difficult to read at times especially if I'm outside & I need to read the ingredients so I have to ask for assistanc.
My eye appointment at the hospital isn't until the 5th of July,I'm seriously considering to request an earlier appointment,but then again my optician has written to me for my annual eye test,it might be that my glasses numbers need changing.

Of course your not overreacting nesquick, contact the Ophthalmology clinic at the hospital and explain your situation and ask if you can be seen sooner, failing that ask your gp to contact them.

Type 1 diabetic for over 21 years

I have had similar probs wif my eyes in the last couple of years. Yes, all relates to diabetes and I have the sensitive to light issue to which I found out was my eyes are not reacting to light quick enough or sometimes not at all. So that's y u can't look outside wifout sunglasses on a clearer/sunny day, as ur pupils are still dilated so too much light gets in n therefore they hurt! Get that checked out to see if it's that, as I now have to inform every1....just incase I happen to be in an accident n am unconscious, the doctor's won't rule me as brain dead cos my eyes aren't reacting to light!! lol...oh the joys of diabetes!!
