FOOTBALL. MY husband is a sports fanatic and watches everything. Most i can put up with just not football.
Went to hand in my repeat prescription this morning and thought while I'm there I'll ask if it was possible to see a Doctor coz i was feeling unwell again and my levels were back up to 21.2. The DN was meant to ring me friday but she didn't ( The Doc started me on a low dose off pioglitazone last week). The receptionist said i could either wait to see if any of the doctors could sqeeze me in or she could get them to ring later. I thought i'll try waiting for a while just in case they needed to see me and I'm already here. I waited for about half an hour then went to tell the receptionist that i'll go home and wait for a phone call. I assumed they would up my dosage on the pioglitazone. The doctor was there and said she wanted the nurse to take my sugar levels then she would see me. They had come down to 19.8 (or it could be just the difference between the 2 different meters). I explained to the nurse al my symptoms i was feeling today but i hadn't been well over the last 10 days. She put it on computer so i didn't have to go through it all again and the doc would have everything she needed in fromt of her. When i went in to see her she said " so if you've been feeling like this for a while, why have you come in as an emergency "? I explained i hadn't and told her what i told the receptionist. The doctor really went off on one saying my receptionist wouldn't of put me as an emergency if i hadn't told her i was. She really laid into me like i was wasting her time and argueing saying i did say it was and she didn't have to ask the receptionist coz she knows what she would say. She all but said that i am lying. I just got up and walked out. Still haven't recieved any treatment and monday afternoons they have staff training so cant even speak to anyone else. I am feeling so upset and angry and cant do anything about it.
 
Some Doctors really do need a kick in the pants don't they??? :evil:
Can you get an appointment for tomorrow with a different Doctor? What about a nurse?
Take no notice of that Doc and soldier on!

I had an experience at the GP`s where he told me off (totally different circumstances) I walked out as he was in mid flow. there is no need for them to speak to anyone like dirt. Complain to the surgery. I did and had a letter of apology, as well as a phone call from that doctor.
 
Oh my, she sounds like a monster. Poor you *hug*. I'd suggest going to another surgery but I know that doesn't always help... I agree that (if you have the energy) a letter of complaint might be in order.
 
That was totally unacceptable the way you were treated. They go on about zero tolerance from us but they think they can treat you like dirt.

If you can't see a better doc in the surgery, and you live in an area where there are several, I should try changing to another one. Also, don't let your doc get away with it, complain to the practice manager.

Yesterday i went to my doctors web site to see how and who you see about making a complaint but there was nothing there but a link. Obviously i clicked on it but still couldn't see anything refering to my surgery so irang someone from the link Independent Complaints Advocacy Service (ICAS) and asked them for advice and explained my situation and coz i was still rialled up i mentioned it was her who missed diagnosing me with the diabetes for a couple of months. I feel bad about that now because she did apologise but have to keep reminding myself that for those couple of months i went through hell and the one time i saw a different doctor he diagnosed me straight away. (That other doctor happens to be the husband of the doctor i'm complaining about) Anyway, the people on the phone told me i had a case with them and they could deal with it for me if i wanted. I couldn't do that coz it didn't seem that bad for an official thing like that :think: I have however written a letter to the practice manager complaining and change my doctor (not the surgery) My doctor now is DOC MARTIN. It's ironic really coz where they film the series of doc martin is only 6 miles away and there isn't a place called ST WENN its actually port issac. :lol: Bit of useless information there :lol:
 
The doctor has been trying to ring me today to apologise i think but the problem is i am to scared to answer the phone. I know she treated me bad and i was right to write the letter of complaint but it makes me feel like a bad person for complaining if you understand my logic. I feel ashamed of what i have done and feel i have stooped to her level i am hiding from it all. I dont know how to respond and know i will feel embarrased. :think:

I have had problems with G.P's in the past trying to pass the buck and make you look stupid and i did'nt waste no time i put a written complaint in about the G.P and the G.P had to respond within 10 working days and explain why they treated you in that way and apologise. Most of the time this is satisfactory because they then realise that you won't take none of there **** and treat you with a bit more respect. If not you can take the complaint further. I ended up changing my G.P because he not only upset me but the surgery made some major mistakes about my daughters medical records, so i had to take the complaint further.

You're not the only furious one. My current Hba1C is on 10% :roll: and i'm wanting to become pregnant. Obviously this is impossible on the figures i currently have. So i'm trying to sort them out and believe me i write down absolutely everything i eat and all my figures and doses, and just about every time i breathe! i can only see my nurse on Fridays because she's only in then, however when i do eventually get to see her, she's so fully booked up that the next time i can see her is weeks and weeks away, normally about a month. anyway i had an appointment with a normal doc who advised me to see an endocrinologist who specialises in pregnancy and diabetes, and she said she'd stick an appointment in the post. i get the post a few days later, and i have to ring up this number. the lady down the phone says i've got 3 choices, and the nearest available appointment is at the end of MAY! how on earth am i supposed to sort out my diabetes well enough for getting pregnant when i cant even see a flippin specialist? I thought diabetics were supposed to get massive support thru pregnancy??? :eh: :evil:
 
My problems are petty next to yours, Only wish i could help you. People like me take having kids for granted and i cant imagine going through what you do.
 
The thing is theres only patches where i can be bothered to try so hard so i wish the docs would grab the chance to help whilst they can! My nurse is quite sweet really it's not her fault she's only in once a week... her advice to me was "Every time you want to be bad, just think 'Babies'" !!!!!!!!!!
 

You're NOT a bad person! You defended yourself and you are trying to deal with a difficult illness. SHE is in the wrong, she all but called you a liar! Let her apologise, be gracious and say "I felt I had to complain, because I simply cannot accept being disbelieved when I am trying to take control of my health". Then pull faces at the phone and flick the Vees at it. :lol:
 
Ha Ha pulling faces down the phone has to be the bestest self-cheering-up method ever. :clap: I do it so many times to all those annoying people out there who just dont understand. Perhaps it's a diabetes after effect!? :lol:
But Glados is right, Mistee71, you are NOT a bad person and did the best thing. I do think it might be worth finding out if there's a more helpful clinic slightly further away? The most important thing is for you to find a doctor or nurse who is willing to help, not to critisize. Keep it up xx
 
You were right to complain. My son nearly died from bad practice. I was too scared to complain about the dr (he told me I was a fussy mother!). Had I listened to him my 1 yr old son would have died. I have regretted to this day (27 yrs later) not taking the Dr to task. I would never take that again.
I had cause to complain about a dr who made sexual comments, I wrote saying I wanted to change practice and was accepted at the new one. I told the practice manager what had taken place, but heard nothing more, only that they accepted my transfer!!
 
drs don.t understand. if it was an emergency you would go to a+e. if you ask for an appt with your own dr your expected to wait weeks!!!!!!.all surgeries work with time for add on pts or duty dr so i just say i need to see a dr and that is that. we. ve been put off before or poo pood by gp when it wasn.t an emerency always followed up with an apology when my daughter turns up again with a really bad chest needing loads of meds worsened by t1 of cousre....and no i don.t want to see the nuse thank you x
 
we get 'telephone consultations' if the appointments are all full. Sorry but a telephone consultation isn't any good, plus it can take as long as face-to-face
 
A quick update on this, i received a letter back from the surgery saying that they will look into the matter and aim to resolve it withing 10 days. Never did hear from them again. Got talking to a friend and he mentioned the problems that he and his sister had with this doc. That spurred me into action again so i wrote another letter of complaint and said i will not let this matter drop. Received another letter of appology and told the lady who is dealing with it is going on holiday and will deal with it on her return but the the doctor in question has had a copy of my letter. With everything else going on with me i must have MUG or SOFT TOUCH written all over me.
