Hi I've been on furlough since March.Anyone else?

I've been struggling a bit with my diet and diabetes as my routine has changed.
I used to be awake and up very early, 7 usually for work.
Now I'm awake late at night and don't rise before 10.

The biggest challenge has been keeping my sugar levels at the right level.
Recently I've changed my breakfast but I think I need to change it again because what I've been eating (mini banana shreddies) is sending my sugar levels way up. I take insulin but my levels won't go down again until lunch. So I'm going to have to ditch the shreddies and go back to boring readybrek.

Any way.

I'm hoping to go back to work soon so I can get my routine back. I get a lot of neck/ tension headaches being home all the time.

You would be better off having bacon and eggs.

Most of us control our numbers by following a low carb diet, have a look at the link in my signature. You would have to control your insulin.

Welcome to the forum.

Yeah I figured I'd have to switch to something else.
Eggs are easy enough. They do keep my levels low as I've had them for lunch and it's stayed very low.

If you tell us what you eat in a typical day, perhaps we could help.

I was on furlough April-July then got back to work as soon as I was asked to. It is hard to be in a routine with good sleeping and eating habits.
I got into the good habit of not eating breakfast and doing some exercise. I also enjoyed a fry up at the local cafe occasionally (they needed my business too!) and it was good to get a away from a house full of kids! I just turned down the toast, beans and hash browns but very much enjoyed mushrooms, eggs and bacon!
Hopefully you will be back in your job soon but consider this time at home a great excuse to experiment with what foods work best to keep you low.

Hi Steve - Whilst it seems at the moment you don't need to be up at 7, have you considered training yourself to get up at that time again, in readiness for going back to work?

I'm not a night owl. I've always been an early bird. It's rare I'm sleeping later that 07:00, with 05:45 being the routine 3 days a week, when my OH plays golf early.

I must admit, I quite like our routines. Being up bright and sharp makes the best of the day, in my view, but of course, we're all different.
