Hi
I have been on LCHF for 2+ months now and for some reason have gained about 6 to 7 kilos in this time. I am still ok on BMI side and also still wearing same trousers 30 inches, I don't know what to do.
My problem is I don't get time to exercise as I work from 6am to about 8pm which includes commute of about 3 hours and involves walking. I started doing more work once I was back home to take it as a workout and it could be anything like hoovering cleaning washing up and lot of gardening over the weekend. But the weight keeps on adding. My calorie intake is about 1300 to max
1400 a day. Metformin should reduce appetite but in my case I start feeling hungry is 2 hours sometimes. I don't know what to do.

What do you eat a normal day?

Do you know your E% breakdown?

Had you lost weight, leading up to diagnosis, or immediately afterwards? I'm just wondering if you are "normalising".

(No. Please don't ask me exactly what that means!! )

Is it hunger, or carb cravings?

It took me a long time to work out the difference ( I had lived with carb cravings for so long that when they finally disappeared, I didn't know what had changed, and thought something was wrong! Lol).

If it is carb cravings, then you have to keep cutting carbs till they go away. Then you get relief from them.

As @Totto says, it may be worth posting what you are eating, in case there is something we can suggest.

The alternative is that your calories are not sufficient, and your body is in starvation mode - and you might lose more if you upped the fat. But that is only an unlikely suggestion, since I don't know your height, weight and no of calories you would be expected to need to maintain your weight. Are you very tall?

Hi

Thanks a lot for your replies
My normal food is this

Slice of burgen bread and an egg with two rashes of bacon at 7 in morning
nothing till lunch after that
Lunch is salad veggies boiled but they are lots of them and sometimes I will take a bread
at about 4 i have an egg and bread
at dinner again loads of salad veggies and two naans which is made of wholemeal its home made so very thin just like a pancake
just before sleeping i have some yogurt that I make in home with full fat milk
my BG is contant between 4.3 which was my lowest to 6
I did loose about 10 kgs of weight i think while i was undiagnosed and that was the biggest reason i went to the doc
My food intake is more or less the same all days I am not trying anything new at the moment.
If hunger and carb cravings are same then may be i am craving for carbs but I am absolutely feeling hungry in 2 hours
in the morning from 7 to 1 I am too busy to think about food but in the afternoon is the same
I am checking my bg thrice once when I am back home once 2 hours after dinner and then fasting

One thing i just remembered is I have cut down on proteins and not having a lot since a month now specialy in dinner may be i should start it again?
I cant have fish its just one thing I can not stand.

If I were you I'd lose all the bread and increase your fat inake to compensate for the calories. - Full fat plain yoghurt, cheese, handful of nuts if you want to increase your protein levels this is fine just calculate them into your calorie count.

this is just what I think
what are your BG readings before breakfast before tea and 2 hours after? I think you are healthy now and your pancreas is working, I would be asking for a T1 antibody test, unless they have a very good explanation why you lost the weight.

keep an eye on your BG, eat well, enjoy..as long as your BG is good, eat what you want to...if you get cold and tired add more fat or carb..
when you get to the weight you want to, start cutting carbs. fats don't make you fat, they give you energy with LC

Doesn't seem neither very low carb nor high fat. I think you may need to up your fat intake a bit and possibly try to cut down on the amount of bread, you eat bread several times a day, that is a lot of bread.

Do you need to loose weight and if so, how much?

Hi

I do fasting which is above 5 but always below 6 and 2 hours after my breakfast it used to go up by .5 to .8 that is when I though burgen is ok for me as there was no a lot of spike.
1 hour after it was 1.2 to 1.4ish, but I did these tests sometime ago adn did them for about 20 to 30 days to make sure burgen is ok or not.
I do have nuts and cheese at times but not everyday, in fats I do have full fat cheese butter and milk, only reason i eat bread is my meter says its ok, I ate rice one day and it shot up and I stopped it straightaway.
I was tested for type 1 and 1.5 but the nurse said its negative.
I am still healthy on my BMI side but I am just worried coz last time I went to the doc I went from 72 to 76 and this time i am about 78 so I gained about 2 more kilos in a month. If i get to 80ish i think i will not be in the healthy range anymore.
I will cut the bread out and see if that makes any difference.

that's good that your aren't T1/1.5..your BG is fine with what you are eating
as you said, you will cut some carbs to keep yourself under 80kg
keep up the good work..cheers
