Gastroparesis

Been diagnosed Type II for around 4 years now and on Metformin for three years - currently 2000MR daily. Now experiencing symptoms that strongly suggest Gastroparesis, which has been discussed with GP. Acute at the moment and I am struggling to be able to eat at all, never mind in relation to diabetes. Rapid weigh loss over past 6 weeks or so. As GP is a recognised diabetes related condition is anyone else similarly affected and how are you managing/coping with this additional complication?

You need to ask GP to refer you to a gastroendologist, there is tests they can do and medication. Don't let GP fob you off with the it's a complication, ok it is but not one where the only solution is to let you suffer.
I tend to just eat soups and smoothies when I have an attack, small sips, drink plenty of water.

Thank you for your comment - I am heartened to know that others are experiencing the same, altho I wish ALL of us didn't have to...surely diabetes should be enough for anyone to deal with. Since extensive 'investigation' yesterday I decided to go 'liquid' for a few days and even after just one cup of soup I noticed a difference - maybe coincidence but very well timed after 7 weeks of agony! Had very loose porridge this morning and a crumpet for lunch and all good at the moment. At least if - or more likely when it flares again I have a 'weapon' to help me deal with it. But clearly I need to clean up my act now regarding my diabetes, cant be going through this all the time.
