I have two tattoos and having a third one done on Friday. My sugars didn't rise. Just keep it clean after and apply plenty of bepanthen cream. Both of mine are fairly small, as will the new one be, but were fully healed within a few days.
I have 14 tattoos spread over my body all done after being diagnosed main thing to remember is to make sure your bg are stable watch out for hypo's take a break if you need it check your bg if you do and after you have the tat make sure you keep your blood under control during healing and keep an eye out for infection
Oh and don't let the tattoo artist blag you into buying tattoo goo or any other expensive product to "help with healing" use bepanthen or preparation H good luck and hope it all goes well I haven't let diabetes stop me from getting a tattoo or piercings
If you find a decent tattoo artist they use a new second skin product which goes over the whole tattoo when it's finished. It's breathable and waterproof and stays on 4 or 5 days. No creams or potions needed, and it's pretty much healed when it falls off.
It's called Tegaderm in UK, Rudafilm or Suprasorb in Germany.
