Glucagon Delivery systems (Epipen style)

My father is Type 1 and he recently had a hypo requiring a glucagon injection

The issue with this is the current format is the powdered hormone that requires solubilising and then further syringe loading and then injection
The person most likely to be doing this is my elderly mother who under pressure and in an obviously emotional state often has struggled

I have searched all over for a delivery system that does not require a calm head and steady hand and comes in a format like the epinephrine pens for allergies.
"Break open, inject"

There must be something out there but I am struggling to find anything

is anyone aware of such a device?
 
Not heard of anything premixed and epi-pen styled .
Only the via prescription glucogan which as you know is powder
formula and needs mixing with water in shringe kit .

Paramedics still use this same kit also .
Available via GP script only in the UK .

Have you enquired into this - via your GP or DSN ?
 
Not too sure if there is an alternative to the Glucagon Injection Kit.

I suspect not, as the glucagon wont stay stable in liquid form. Am I right in thinking that research is ongoing to fix this problem so it can be used in insulin pumps for the closed loop system? I'm sure I read this somewhere but wont guarantee it

Not sure tbh, but it would be a great step forward as the Glucagon Kit is rather fiddly to use, especially for someone like the OP's mum.

I can't use glucagon due to having Addison's disease, so not really followed the market that much. OP's Mum needs to call an ambulance if can't manage would be safer for her and hubby I would have thought.

Yes very much so, that would be sensible.

I've never had to use one so been lucky in a lot of respects.
 
i have probably been in need of a dose of the stuff but unfortunately never had one in date when required. ( and my wife is ok with procedure etc )
911 has got to be the best choice really.
