Hi everyone new to this site

i have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for the last 4 months so its all still new to me i have a medical exemption certificate but am i entitled to a free glucose monitor and all the parafinalia?

Morning youngie_6

As you are type 2 the blood glucose monitor and test strips is purely down to your GP's discression.

Some get lucky and have understnading gp's and get the strips on prescription but its in the minority.

It is vital for your own control tho' so if they say no, try and source one yourself

thanks for your reply i havent really been advised by my nurse to carry out tests im on metformin twice a day

Hi youngie_6 and welcome to the forum
Here is the information we give to new members which contains advice on testing which is very important. You may have to fund your own testing equipment as many members here have to.

Hi there
You can sometimes get free monitors from the makers if you tell them you are going to test regularly .They make their money from selling test strips .There are quite a few posts on here about cheapest strips .
