That's it....spot on. I didn't set out to lose weight, I was lit on a 12 weeks LCHF diet and further weight to my surprise has just dropped off....not a single calorie counted, just smacked the carbs out of my diet and upped the fat

yes you are right in what you say I guess things work out differently for everyone but it is nice to hear how others deal with it as you may learn something new. I'm glad I'm not the only one who lost weight without even trying keep up the good work. It also seems like Canada and Britain have different ways as I don't know what a LCHF diet is? Also our doctor's can only get an A1C number done every 90 days. Do you pay for your prescriptions over there as well if you are diabetic?Hi Kev
Whatever rows your boat or rings your bell - as long as it works for you. You certainly seemed to have found your way judging by your result (top stuff).
I guess I am a bit luckier as I can handle a bit more carbs. So the lower carb/med style is my mantra.
All the best.

Same here in Oz, we gets subsidised strips quite cheaply as well as medications. After about $1300p.a. the cost per strip drops to around $6 for 100 and similarly for med. We are also restricted to 4 AC1 tests but we can get 4 Fructosamine test. ( really good if you are altering medications/diet etc as it measures only the last 2-3 weeks - do you can really nail things down.)yes you are right in what you say I guess things work out differently for everyone but it is nice to hear how others deal with it as you may learn something new. We are very lucky in Alberta - we don't pay for our health care and when you are retired most of your prescriptions are free and if they are more than usual the most you pay if you are retired is $25.00 we don't pay for X-rays, cat scans, ultrasounds, surgery or hospital stays (and that is for all residents of Alberta) I am also having physiotherapy on my knee and that is also free but all other provinces are different. We also don't pay for doctor visits. The U.S. costs are ridiculous! We went to Cuba a few years ago and my doctor said we didn't need to buy travel insurance as there would most likely be a doctor in the resort and it would be free and the most we would pay there if a prescription was need would be $10!! There was a doctor in the resort and luckily we did not need his services!!Same here in Oz, we gets subsidised strips quite cheaply as well as medications. Our medical mob seem to be quite flexible as the low carb diets are subsidised by some of the private health funds. If you look up www.hwfl.com.au it will give an outline of the programme. Our health system seems to be pretty robust compared to countries I've been to and leaves the US for dead.

Funny thing happened to me in Fort Lauderdale. Forgot my isoptin and we were there for 25 days. Went to doctor to get a script, $120 (about $50 here). Off to chemist (drug store) and asked for a packet. How many do you want ??? One packet. We don't have it, we have 18 tablets, how many do you want?? The lot thanks - $140. Total $260. Sounds like the States I guess Trump fits right in!!!! You should sell that to a comedian ha ha!!! We are about 2 hours from the Montana border went to a lot of places down there (our favourites being Cannon Beach, Oregon and Madera Beach, Florida) most people are really friendly but they do have to pay for every little thing they need when sick and I don't think they get paid a lot.Funny thing happened to me in Fort Lauderdale. Yes it is scary down there - we haven't been for a while because of the rate of exchange - we were actually going to come to Britain for a holiday but it seems prices over there are very high and right now we have to pay $1.85 for a pound and we can buy more with our dollar than we can with a pound!! Prices of Bed and Breakfasts are outrageous in Scotland as well. The global variations are incredible. We have a friend from the USA who has lived in the UK for many years and is now wanting to return back to the States....BUT the cost of health care is terrifying her.

I hope it goes the way you want it to - I guess it could make a huge difference if it goes the wrong way!Oh that's a shame, but I understand, things may change after our Referendum this Thursday.... For the worse or better
