Can diabetes cause deafness?

Not quite sure what's going on really.

People have said that I have the TV too loud, it's not loud to me and I can't hear what the people on the TV are saying properly.

Also, a few people have said that I shout all of the time, I haven't noticed.

I'm finding myself asking people to repeat themselves, A LOT! To the point now that my friends are just saying to forget it and I feel left out.

If there's a lot of noise around like if I'm in a pub or somewhere I can't hear what people on the same table as me are saying, same as if I'm in the car and the window is open or the radio is on, I can't hear.

I feel like I'm isolating myself because I can't hear people talking and I'm worried that I'm coming across as rude. A friends new girlfriend has said that she thinks I don't like her because I've ignored her, I didn't know she'd spoken to me!

Has anyone else had this?

What's involved in a hearing test?

Thanks.

Hi,
i started like this and its got quite a bit worse, i finally got a diagnosis so i would suggest seeing your gp to have things ruled out, first they will check for wax then if ok prob send you to ent, they then tested my hearing...you pop on some earphones and press a button when u hear noises, dont know if it can be diabetes related or not

Thank you, I had a really bad ear infection a few years ago and it's been getting gradually worse since then.
I'll book an appointment
