Can you do another fingerprick test to confirm that low reading?

Thanks for replying
I did another test and its now saying 11.9 - I ate some toast with jam in between

Yup, that would send you high!

Are you changing your diet to help treat your diabetes?

Yes but still a work in progress
My medication for cancer causes blood glucose to go up and down (I also only have head of pancreas - I know some who don’t have diabetes despite being in a similar situation as me so need to get on top of carbs and sugars to see if I can control my glucose levels. I have been told if glucose low drink a high sugar drink like coke, eat jelly babies or have a sandwich and if it’s high drink water and go for a walk is this correct (had no coke or jelly babies so had toast and jam

Every one is different. I would keep a packet of jelly babies close by, follow up with a biscuit or small sandwich and keep checking, just to check you are coming up.
