I have for few days tested blood before first meal (which is around 1-3pm) at 6.2 - 6.7 which pretty good but I have sweet taste in my mouth until after the meal.. I always thought sweet taste goes with high sugar numbers. I am not sure - do I just ignore it or what? Is it possible it's not diabetes if symptoms aren't what they should be (I don't trust my GP)?

I always thought sweet taste goes with high sugar numbers.
I've never had a sweet taste in my mouth wth high blood glucose.
I don't think it's generally mentioned as a common sign of high numbers either.

What medication are you on? Could it be a side effect?

Currently no medication. I've just started so I am trying to lose weight instead. No pills for 3 weeks at least

Are you eating a very low carb diet? It could be a sign that you're producing ketones. They can sometimes cause a sweetish taste (or smell) and I've occasionally experienced this but usually at lower glucose levels.
