Gout

I thought gout was caused by eating too much acidic food like tomatoes.
I have never heard of it as a problem with fish.

If you look up the causes of gout it includes lots of different foods, alcohol and most significantly genetics. If you think you have gout it is easily tested by the doctor measuring your uric acid level.

I started to get frequent gout attacks, even in the sternum, elbow and foot at the same time, when my kidney function had deteriorated significantly. Since my kidney transplant I have not suffered at all - 5years on Tuesday!

A friend of mine gets gout from eating prawns.
