I'm with you, aged 39, BG at 24+ and ketones +++. I think the only thing keeping my BG lower was the copious exercise leading up to diagnosis with a 23 mile fell race the weekend before (still no idea how I managed that in my conditionI guess I must be an exception. I was correctly diagnosed by my GP as Type 1 right off the bat. Of course my BG was something silly like 36+ and ketones were maxed out on the old dip stick. After a few days in hospital I then got to work learning all I could and haven't been re-admitted since.
Even managed a few sick days without any assistance
