GP as good as his word

I am really thrilled. My GP has completely stuck to his word. At the diabetic clinic I asked for a meter and strips and he agreed. I just had to wait for the diabetic nurse to come back from annual leave. Well, today I went to see her, and I am now the proud owner of a new Accu Chek Aviva, and 100 strips. I can get more strips as and when I need them. The downside, the scripts will stop once my HbA1c is below 6.0. I have my appointment for that June 27th, so I may loose my free scrips pretty soon, as I am sure I will be under 6.0 then. I am not going to see this as a negative, as I have got them now. I am hoping if I can show my GP the benefits of testing he will continue the scripts. Fingers crossed.

Absolutely Paul. We all have to start somewhere. Each journey of a thousand miles begins with a small step!

Well done you! I'd be saying to the doc, if they ARE under 6, "how about prescribing me just 50 every 2 months if I KEEP them below 6?" Anything is better than nothing, and worth a go!

Exactly Grazer. "You are not going to take them away JUST as I have managed to get them under control.... I may go right back up again! I NEED them to keep me on track. Has the merit of being true. too.

Good idea Unbeliever and Grazer. I think having lots of weapons in your armory is certainly a way to get HCP on side!
