I recently moved to UK with my family and we are currently living in Luton. I sent multiple requests to different GPs for registration but it is not registered yet. Last April my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and at that time hospital gives me a few supplies of prescriptions. Now the situation is, the insulin supplies will end in the next few days and still I am struggling with GP registration. In the last 2 months due to not getting any response from GP I bought 2 times glucose test strips and freestyle libre 2 sensor from my pocket. Now I am extremely worried that what I have to do in the current situation because GP is not registered and her insulin will finish in the next few days. Now can anyone guide me that what I have to do in this situation or to whom I have to inform and get the prescriptions?

I don't think there is a diabetes team for the daughter in which case please go to your nearest A&E department..

For registering with a GP it's best to go and visit the surgery in person.

Shan, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. It must be a nightmare.

Is there a walk in centre near to you? These are just as it suggests a walk-in way to engage with a GP. It would not necessarily end in you being registered, but they should be able to access insulin. I would strongly suggest you take whatever you have outlining her treatment, the insulins she takes and so on. If you are here on a visa of any sort, please take your passports (or wherever your visas are recorded) with you, just toi clarify your status.

An alternative would be to call NHS111 today (That's just dial 111 on your phone keypad), and explain your situation.

If all else fails, take your daughter to your nearest A&E, but be prepared to wait, so if you need to take snacks, and again everything you have to help the medics understand your daughter's predicament.

But, please, don't wait until the day your daughter's insulin will run out. Do something today, or tomorrow morning at the very latest.

Please let us know how you get along.
