I've been low carbing for a good 2.5 months now almost since Type 1 diagnosis. I follow the Bernstein method of less than 30gs of Carbs a day and have fairly good results. I am always around 5mmol in the evening and fasting not much different, although around 4.5 mmol following an evening run.

Anyway i drink around 5 cups of green tea a day at work , it suppresses appetite (in my case) and is widely touted as a 'wonder' drink for diabetics (not sure whay). During the working day my BS is around 6mmol all day and i'm starting to think the green tea is having an impact. The labelling states 0.4g Carbs pro portion (200ml) and there is no added sugars / sweetners etc.

Does anyone else have Green tea problems or with hot drinks. Can anyone recommend a good low carb drink , tea , soft drink that doesn't impact BS ? I can't drink water all the time:-(

I've never been a hot drink person, prefering diet coke other than the occasional hot chocolate, but recently i've started to drink green tea, and probably cancel out any good it does by adding sweetener, but, what i have seen a few mentions of on here is marmite - half to full teaspoon in hot water - which i've yet to try, but it sounds lovely and and I think there might be reports of it actually having health benefits but i cant remember where i saw that so cant post a link i'm afraid.

I can't see the green tea being the problem although I don't follow a Bernstein style diet. The higher daytime working levels could just be down to stress although 6 looks perfectly fine to me, I drink around 3 mugs of green tea a day, if you want a good low-carb drink then stick to plain water....you can't go wrong

Why not try a few days with water and test through those days.
Green tea does contain caffeine which I have read can raise blood sugar in some people.
