Hi all. To be honest I have been reading this forum for some time but have only now chosen to register. Anyway about me. I was diagnosed about 8 years ago with type 2. Over that time I have shed around 5 stone. Unfortunately my diabetes progressed through the tablets phase before I started insulin (lantus) about 3 years ago. I have continued to lose buckets of weight rather worryingly and my blood glucose levels remain very high (21.5 mol) which is making me think that my pancreas is really struggling. I have a diabetes review coming up soon. I feel that I am more type 1 than 2 at the moment.

I prescribe to the low carbohydrates theory and keep them to a minimum in my daily diet.

It's good to be in such a friendly forum

hello there and yes I agree it is a very friendly forum

Hello and welcome .... wondering if you could be LADA as opposed to type 2? Did you have antibody tests at the time of diagnosis? I'm no expert ... just a thought

Hello and welcome Cotswold Canary

Best wishes RRB

Thank you Lesleywo. I've never considered LADA but will raise it with my GP when I see him for my review. During my last review my Consultant refused to introduce a new insulin to be had around meal times because of my weight and the fear that I would put on more weight. I am currently on lantus and I have been on huge dosages and small doses and it makes no difference to my blood sugars.

My weight has dropped as I have been on victoza for around 4 months. I am a little confused with my diabetes care at the moment. I have lots of questions for my new st review.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Hope they can establish what is right for you soon
