Doctors who know less about diabetes and endocrinology than their patients.
Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to drop a quick introduction, I'm Frankie. Have been a type 1 (brittle) diabetic for over 30 years now on Humalog for meal time injections, and Hypurin Porcine Isophane for basal twice a day. Generally, I have pretty ok HbA1Cs (always been in the 6.1% to 6.8% range since childhood).

Atm I am studying for a Msc in Psychology and spending way too much time studying the impact of hormones and diabetes on our brains.

Glad to have found a forum to share info/experiences on!
Frankie

Hi Frankie and welcome to the forum We are certainly looking forward to hearing about your experiences in dealing with your diabetes as these could be useful for other members. If you need help on anything please ask as there will usually be someone who will have an answer for you.

Thanks for the warm welcome

I'll make sure to post as many replies as I can from time to time on the forums, always happy to help!

One thing I was asked in PMs which I didn't mention in my post is regarding complications. To date I have no diabetic complications hoping to keep it that way! But then again I don't smoke and do not drink either, exercise at the gym 3 times per week so that might have something to do with it alongside the 'obsessive' control of sugars as my GP calls it HAHAHA.

Frankie
PS: sisterdainty just look for the Post New Topic or Post Reply buttons at the top they are red so should stand out
