went to see the dietican about carb counting yesterday, more for the info so i can get a better idea of doses really.
She looked at my readings and guess what she said?
"erm why are you here you dont need this!!"
apparently my readings are excellent. I was so happy i could have cried, i've been on the old insulin for 4 weeks and i have fantastic control apparently.
some readings for you:-
AM- 7.4-- 14units
2hours- 4.6
Lunch- 5.4--- 10 units
after- 6.2
Tea- 5.4--- 20 units (had a big tea :-s )
2hour- 6.7
Before bed- 10.7 -- 18 lantus
i did have a pretty big tea that night so that explains for 10 but i have had one two double figures in a week.
Delighted for you manxangel. It sounds as if you're getting on top of it now. We always knew you would!
As a matter of interest, did you discuss carb restriction with your dietician? Some appear more enlightened than others, so it would be good to know what advice you were given.
Oh no the Dietican was "eat lots of carbs with every meal!" but interestingly the Diabetologist is a "cut them out" kinda fella.
she said eat what you want but just kae sure you have insulin.
I figure i'm going to go in the middle there, cut them down but not out. She kept talking about pasta and stuff and i was so craving it had a big bowl for my tea and it was lovely!!
she didn't mention a lot about quanties i should be eating, but she was definatly a eat all you can kinda gal. lol
