Happy International Women's Day!

Amidst all the media montages of Women We Should (Impossibly) Aspire To Be, I thought I'd post a more humble list recognising the contributions of women in the UK, compiled by Carers UK:

Carers UK has calculated that the economic value of the unpaid care provided by women in the UK is estimated to be a massive £77 bn per year.

Carers UK research on sandwich carers and the workplace showed that women were four times more likely than men to have given up work because of multiple caring responsibilities.

Guys, you're awesome - we already knew that! I just wanted to recognise how awesome women are, too.

So, to all the girls reading this and, maybe, not having the best of days today,know that you're not alone. You don't have to be a super-star activist splashed across the front pages to feel like you're doing your bit and holding your worth. We're all unsung heroines, and today's our day.
