Tonight I injected my 8 units of Lantus in my thigh in the usual area. It unexpectedly caused a fair bit of bleeding (although it stopped as soon as I dabbed it with a tissue) and it's also stinging a little bit.

More importantly, there is now a small lump/bump at the injection site....it's sort of like an insect bite/spot? Is this something to be concerned about and did my Lantus still get injected properly? How long will it stay for and can I do anything to get rid of it or avoid it happening again?

This happens to me some times if I inject in an area that's been a bit over used. The insulin will still work but not as quickly as it usually would as that lump will take a bit of time to go down and disperse

Hi Gemma, try injecting in different areas, like a w point system, start at one point of the letter w and imagine it drawn on your body, you will have 5 points to inject. It helps stop build up of insulin under the skin which could cause unexpected hypos in the long term. Hope this helps
